On Tuesday 28th May, as part of the “Pearlers of Port Douglas” programme, you have a free half day to discover Port Douglas at your own pace.

If you wish to join a Plumbing World activity, we have listed some recommended choices below. Please note that this cost is not included in our program and will be at your own expense.

Due to the time constraints on the day, all the activities below have been created especially for Plumbing World and are exclusive to our group only.

If you wish to book on any of the below, please make your choices via the Plumbing World online website.

If you wish to look into alternative tours or book on a regular scheduled activity as a “seat in coach/FIT” traveller, please make contact with Clair Wilson.

MOSSMAN GORGE CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

Take a Dreamtime walk through the rainforest with the traditional owners, the Kuku Yalanji people. Learn about traditional life, bush food, medicine and other plant uses, visit special places and culturally significant sites, traditional bark shelters and meandering cool rainforest streams. The experienced interpretive Indigenous guides demonstrate traditional plant use, identify bush tucker sources, share their dreamtime legends, explain the history of cave paintings and provide an enchanting narrative of the rainforest and their special relationship within this unique tropical environment.
Enter the visitor’s cultural centre of Mossman Gorge and swap to an eco-friendly bus for the final leg of the journey, deep into the Gorge.

SKYRAIL RAINFOREST CABLEWAY & KURANDA SCENIC RAILWAY

Guests will be transferred from the hotel to the Scenic Kuranda Railway. This famous railway winds its way on a journey from Cairns to Kuranda, the village in the rainforest, with Freshwater situated along the line with views of the surrounding mountains. Rising from sea level to 328m, the journey to Kuranda passes spectacular waterfalls and into the stunning Barron Gorge.

Explore the township of Kuranda before enjoying lunch as a group.

Following lunch the group will board the Skyrail for the journey down to the bottom. Embark on a fascinating journey of discovery over and deep into the world’s oldest continually surviving tropical rainforest that provides a truly unique perspective of Australia’s World Heritage listed tropical rainforest – immersing guests in the sights, sounds, smells and tranquility of one of the most botanically fascinating areas on earth.

LOW ISLES – HALF DAY

On arrival at the  Marina, board the Calypso vessel for your adventure to Low Isles – a beautiful coral cay surrounded with coral reef.
Guests have 2.5 hours to snorkel in the calm lagoon or view the reef from a glass bottom boat, access the island and explore the sandy paths winding through the vegetation. See first hand the historical Lighthouse and the Weather Station where local weather data is collected. Bird life found here is spectacular, with many sea birds breeding and nesting in the vegetation and on the ground.

07:30 Vessel departs. Guests are welcomed on board, an outline of the tour announced and safety briefing conducted by crew.

DAINTREE FOREST TOUR

Due to recent floods in Far North Queensland, this tour has been adjusted due to changes in road access.
 

Experienced guides take you through the most amazing locations of the Daintree Rainforest on this exclusive group experience.
Marvel at the beauty of the Daintree Rainforest on a guided walk through Mossman Gorge, visit Thorntons Beach, historic sites and embark on a Daintree River wildlife cruise.

You’ll also visit Daintree Discovery Centre where you can spot native Australian species of koalas, cassowaries, an abundance of birdlife and much more.

CROCODILE FARM TOUR

Hartley’s Creek Crocodile Farm is not only home to hundreds of crocodiles but also Koalas, Kangaroos, Cassowaries, Dingoes, snakes, reptiles and other species native to Australia.
This “Farm” is situated at Hartley’s Creek on the magnificent Cook Highway, a coastal road running between Cairns and Port Douglas. This World heritage listed property is set in 28 hectares of rainforest and Australian bushland.

There are a variety of activities scheduled throughout the day. including crocodile feeding, lagoon cruise, snake handling viewing of Australian Native wild life and so much more. The Crocodiles up Close tour, a boat ride on Hartley’s Lagoon, is a unique eco – adventure. On specially constructed boats, you will be up close and personal with the Australian Saltwater Crocodiles.

Whether you are a novice, a seasoned professional, an adventure junkie, or someone who just wants to be immersed in nature, Stand Up Paddle board has something for everyone, no matter age, fitness or skill level.
 
Our experienced guide will take you through all you need to know about paddle boarding so that you can get geared up and out onto the water safely. The tranquil river of Mossman is the perfect spot for our guests to get started with this water sport. Enjoy the sounds of nature, spot common native bird species and delight yourself while paddling up the river. 
 
Guests will saver a light snack and, of course, a refreshing swim into the river.
